350 Cards & Gifts Week: The Home Decor Challenge

So Friday's challenge over at Moxie Fab World was to Paper Craft something that could be used to decorate your house with.  I think this is an excellent idea and one that I do often especially when I can't find that perfect item in stores to finish off a decor idea I have in mind.

So for my entry into the 350 Cards & Gifts: The Home Decor Challenge I have made up a couple canvases that each showcase a special picture to me in a way that a conventional picture frame just couldn't.

The first is a Canvas with a  picture of my Husband and I after we got engaged in Maui.  I am really happy with the way this one turned out.  I embellished it minimally as I felt the Seaside Overlay did a good job of adding enough elements and I didn't want it to feel overdone.

I did add a shell from the beach to give it that added "Beachy Feel"

The next one I did was for an Engagement picture of my Husband and I and to make it I used tissue paper we got from our Engagement party.

I added our initials to the heart to personalize it a little more.

350 Cards & Gifts Week: The Gift Wrap Challenge

This is the Gift Bag I have created for the 350 Cards & Gifts Week: The Gift Wrap Challenge, the one thing I like to do when I decorate my Gift bags is that everything I put on them is attached so they can come off and be used to Scrapbook with or used on a Card.   I am loving using up all my scrap patterned and solid papers making these cute faux Pin Wheels.

Tuesday Trigger: A Burst Of Blooms

So I have been following Moxie Fab World for a while now and decided I would try the Tuesday Trigger Challenge today.

I sat for a long while trying many different things, it seems sometimes my ideas are better suited for the paper crafts in my head then on real paper, sometimes I just can't get the cards to look the way they do when I brainstorm them.

  Here is the Tuesday Trigger: A Burst Of Blooms Photo;

So after a lot of playing around this is my take on the picture above, I tried to keep my card inline with the colors that show up in the photo above and I kept the flower theme going.  The part of the picture which really got me wanting to give this a try was the pop of color provided by the watering can, I tried to mimic that by layering my off white paper on a bright blue.

Baby Shower

Well it has been a couple months since I updated my blog and boy can a lot happen in that time.  I have been busy creating cards to send off to Paper Crafts Magazine, it's my first time submitting some of my work I am not so sure I am up to the skill level worthy of being put in the magazine, but I will keep trying until one day I make it in.   Another project I have been working on is Baby Shower Invitations for my Step Sister Jenn.  Not knowing the gender of the little one yet I opted for a gender neutral color scheme of Light Green and Light Purple, I even made a matching Envelope for the Invitation set.

10 Days Until Christmas

Today while browsing through some Blogs I came a cross a craft that makes use of all those old magazines we have laying around the house.  I was turned onto this idea by The Scrapoholic who had found the idea on Auntie REcREates (so thanks to both of you for the great idea).   So when I saw this I just had to try it and it turned out great there are some fine tweaks I would make the next time but otherwise this is a great craft that is really easy and can be done while sitting in front of the TV as I did while watching the Canucks game with my Husband.

Now don't mind the poor decorations on the finished product I didn't have time to go to Michael's and get some decorations worthy of my Magazine Tree.   I can see now why one would use a book as the colors are limited to white and a little black from the type.  I  think unless I spray paint this magazine version the decorations that I put on this tree are going to be over powered by all the colors that are popping out of the pages.   I think I would spray paint my tree Silver and accent it with Purple hued decorations, I can't wait to give it a try.

11 Days Until Christmas

This year I decided to send my two Nephews Ryland and Aydin their own Christmas cards but they had to be different then the other cards I sent out to everyone so I came up with the Reindeer and Raccoon you see below, I was really happy with these cards and they look so cute.

The Monkey card came about because my Sister-In-Law really likes Monkeys so I decided to make her a card with the monkey.  Now none of my Christmas Cricut Cartridges have a Monkey on them so I have to combine my Paisley and Jolly Holidays Cartridge and the end result was exactly what I was hoping for.  They all were so cute I almost didn't want to give them up.
